During this course 2013 - 2014 MATHEMATICS is being taught @ IES EL BATÁN (MIERES).

TYPES OF SYSTEMS WITH TWO LINEAR EQUATIONS IN TWO VARIABLES

1.
There is one solution. When graphing the lines, we observe that there is a point of intersection.

2.
There is an infinite number of solutions. When graphing the lines, we observe that there are infinitely many points of intersection. The lines intersect at every point, so they are coincident.

3.
There is not a solution. When graphing the lines, we observe that there is not a point of intersection. The lines are parallel. Parallel lines never cross.

  1. If the system is consistent you can solve it.
